After completing a master’s degree in economic sciences at UNamur, Patrick joined the NBB’s Economics and Research Department in 1999. In 2016, he moved to the international economy group. Now a principal economist, he oversees studies focusing on the EU economy, in particular that of the euro area. Since autumn 2022, he has also served as an alternate member of the Belgian delegation to the EU’s Economic Policy Committee. Patrick’s research areas have included Brexit, public finances, national recovery plans, and regional development in Belgium (Brussels and Wallonia) compared with other European regions.
