Museum Night Fever 2024: Year 1929: Last Swing Before the Crash

The Museum of the National Bank of Belgium is pleased to announce its special opening during the night of October 19-20, 2024, as part of Museum Night Fever. Organized by Brussels Museums, this event, which runs from 7pm to 1am, will allow you to discover the collections of 28 Brussels-based museums in a nighttime setting, while also taking part in various activities organized in these institutions, all in a festive atmosphere. The more adventurous among you can head to the after-parties at C12 or Botanique to extend the festivities!

Back to the Roaring 20's! Come and enjoy an evening set to the rhythms of jazz and swing, organized in our atrium, in an atmosphere that will take you back in time!  It will also be an opportunity for you to admire our collections in a completely different context. We're offering you a musical experience during which musicians and dancers will do their utmost to reveal your dancing talents. You can also take a break to catch your breath and learn more about the 1929 stock market crash and its impact on Europe. Convinced?

The entire museum team invites you to enjoy a programme worthy of Mister Gatsby, specially prepared for the occasion! From 7pm to 10pm, the ‘Belle Epoque’ jazz band will be playing classics from the 1920s, gradually immersing you in the mood. From 10.00pm, DJ’s Zénobe and Gaston will take the stage and offer a set specially created for the event. And don't miss the dancers who arrive around 8pm and lead you onto the dance floor until the end of the evening. They'll be introducing you to swing and lindy hop, an Afro-American dance that originated in Harlem in the 1920s.
